The devastating damage caused by Hurricane Ivan in 2004 is still much in evidence. Many churches and other buildings have no roofs, some homes have still to be rebuilt, and the agricultural damage is only slowly recovering. Lack of funds slows down the recovery process. Social changes are producing an increasing proportion of the population who need help as traditional family bonds weaken. This includes the aged, the sick, abused children, victims of addiction, etc. Funding for the necessary facilities is scarce and outside help is sought.
Areas of possible Aid
Any help in funding that could be provided to assist in the provision of a Home for abused children that is being set up would be welcome. The Minister for Social Development also stated that any volunteers with particular skills that wished to spend a period assisting in Grenada would be welcomed.
