SVP Support for Cyclone Nargis victims in Burma (Myanmar)
Many will remember the dreadful pictures from the Cyclone hit areas of Burma, following the devastation caused by Cyclone Nargis on 3 May 2008.
With an existing infrastructure of some 200 Conferences (Groups) in Burma, the local members of the Society of St Vincent de Paul were well placed to bring early assistance to those affected.
Starting initially using their own resources, funds were made available from other Countries, including the UK, to support the local efforts.
Shown are two photos of SVP members visiting affected areas, taking material assistance and providing support in the rebuilding of destroyed houses.
